People’s Party candidate Ahn Cheol-soo dismissed the question of whether to unify with People’s Power candidate Yoon Seok-yeol, saying, “I am not interested in unification.”

Candidate Ahn repeatedly emphasized his will to complete the race, saying, “I am not interested in unification, and of course I have never thought about conditions or anything like that.”

“I think the people will decide and choose who is more suitable and who is a more scalable candidate for regime change,” he said.

Regarding the theory of joint government with Candidate Yoon raised by some, Ahn drew a line, saying, “Have you not seen a precedent where joint government does not work properly in the presidential system and promises are broken in the end?”

In an interview with the Chosun Ilbo earlier, Candidate Ahn pointed out that “the majority of the people doubt the power of the people to authorize it, and the power of the people cannot change the government.”

“I regret the most in my political life that I gave up my presidential candidate seat to President Moon Jae-in in 2012,” he said.
