AIF publicizes opposition to pension age; ‘Silent’ DYFI – Pension Age, AIYF

Thiruvananthapuram ∙ There is a difference of opinion in the Left Front regarding raising the pension age in public sector organisations. Youth organization CPI AIIF came forward against the action. DYFI leadership is not ready to respond. The opposition parties have decided to come forward with a strong strike. The Youth Congress will march to the Secretariat today.

The finance department explains that the decision was made to unify the pension age at 60 due to different retirement ages in public sector organisations. The pension age of KSEB, Jala Authority and KSRTC has not been increased for now. An expert committee has been appointed to study this in these institutions. There are about one and a half lakh employees in 122 public sector organizations and 6 financial corporations.

In a statement, the state committee of the AIIF said that the order to raise the pension age to 60 in public sector organizations is unacceptable and that this is a measure to protect tens of thousands of educated young people.

The government’s decision to raise the pension age in public sector organizations is an act against the youth. This decision can only be seen as a challenge to unemployed young people. This decision is very unpleasant as increasing the pension age is not a policy of the Left Democratic Front. State President N. Arun and Secretary TT Gismon demanded that the decision should be withdrawn and the right of youth to be protected should be protected.
