Ponnabalam is an actor who is known to the audience for his villainous roles. The actor entered the cinema as a stunt artist. Later, he was noticed with the role of the villain in the film Natame. Ponnambalam has acted in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi languages with leading actors. Ponnabalam was recently admitted to hospital due to kidney failure. Then his relative donated a kidney and Ponnabalam came back to life. Ponnambalam’s kidney transplant was done on February 10 at a private hospital in Chennai.
Ponnabalam says the reason for his kidney failure now is because his relative gave him poison. The claims were made in an interview with Behind the Wood. In the hospital, the operation and other actors like Kamal Haasan, Chiranjeevi, Sarathkumar, Dhanush, Arjun, Vijay Sethupathi, Prakash Raj, Prabhudeva, director KS Ravikumar also came and helped. But Ponnambalam claims that no one from Ajith, Vijay or Vikram even called and inquired about him. Ajith was treated like his own brother. So, I thought I should call and inquire if it is okay, not to give money, said Ponnabalam.
