Mumbai: Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar has been dismissed nine times by Pakistan pacer Shuaib Akhtar. But Shuaib Akhtar once said that Tendulkar’s dismissal was a mistake. Akhtar, who has dismissed Tendulkar 5 times in ODIs and 3 times in Tests, has also dismissed Tendulkar in his first season in the IPL. Akhtar last expelled Tendulkar from the IPL in 2008.

Sachin Tendulkar led Mumbai then. Akhtar was a Kolkata player. Kolkata were bowled out for just 67 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Mumbai won the match by 8 wickets

However, after Tendulkar’s wicket in the match, the fans started swearing and Kolkata captain Ganguly was shifted to the circle without any other option as he was fielding at the boundary line, Akhtar said on the sports portal Sports Sports talk show.

‘We were able to score very few runs in the match. The game is played in Tendulkar’s home country. We started by greeting each other. I dismissed Tendulkar in the first over. Later I realized that it was a big mistake. The fans started swearing at me who was fielding in the fine leg.

Ganguly then asked me who told him to fire Tendulkar. Come to the midwicket, people will not even hesitate to kill themselves, Tendulkar has been out, Ganguly said, and that too in Mumbai.

Mumbai is a city of love. No one insulted my country or racially abused me. “I wish I could have played more matches in Mumbai,” Akhtar said.
