Four-time F1 World Champion Alain Prost has high hopes for Alpine F1’s 2022 reserve driver Oscar Piastri.
Renault adviser Alain Prost admitted that he was watching Oscar Piastri’s rise in the junior rank and said he was impressed with what he saw.
“We can’t really predict what a big team can do in F1 because of the pressure of the constructors and so on,” Alain Prost told In the Fast Lane. ..
“I’ve often seen some drivers who arrived in F1 with big constructors in the past go wrong. They feel too much pressure and lose a bit.”
Oscar Piastri is currently leading the FIA F2 Championship with two rounds remaining.
If he wins the title this year, he will win all three categories of Formula Renault Eurocup, FIA-F3 and FIA-F2 in his first attempt.
It surpasses George Russell, Charles Leclerc, Max Verstappen and even Lewis Hamilton.
“I’ve been following Oscar for many years and have been in contact with Mark Webber (his manager) for many years,” Alain Prost added.
“It’s an exception to win the first year of the championship as a rookie and pull it off three times. I hope it will happen.”
“There aren’t many drivers who can do that, but above all, I’m in the paddock and greeting Oscar compared to what I said at the beginning.”
“I’m talking to him, but he’s relaxed and fine.”
“He can feel it’s his life. He knows what he’s doing and what he has to do in the future. Such a problem. Should be avoided. “
“He’s very smart. He’s young. He has great expectations for Oscar in the future. I love him very much.”
