While alcohol increased the risk of 11 types of cancer, including colorectal and liver cancer, coffee was found to be effective in suppressing cancer.

Researchers at Imperial College London, UK, reported in the recent issue of Nature Communications, a world-renowned academic journal, “Drinking alcohol is a risk factor for various cancers, including breast cancer, colorectal cancer, rectal cancer, esophageal cancer, head and neck cancer, and liver cancer.”

The researchers explained that this was the result of analyzing data from 860 existing studies that tracked the relationship between various types of cancer and nutrients.

In addition, US News & World Report published on the 5th, ‘Study: Alcohol consumption is associated with 11 types of cancer, but coffee protects’, in the article “Ordinary coffee It has been confirmed that consuming at least one cup of decaffeinated coffee per day is effective in preventing liver cancer and basal cell carcinoma of the skin.”

Basal cell carcinoma of the skin is a representative skin cancer along with squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma. Basal cell carcinoma or squamous cell carcinoma is known to occur most frequently in areas of the face exposed to UV rays.

This study was supported by the World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF). “This review study confirms that alcohol and coffee are associated with cancer,” said Giorta Mitro, director of research and innovation at WCRF.

In other words, drinking is closely related to ‘cancer risk factors’ and coffee is closely related to ‘cancer inhibiting factors’.

This means that coffee consumption has a preventive effect on diseases caused by inflammation such as cancer. ‘ (phytochemical, a plant physiologically active substance).

Several studies have already shown that even light drinking, such as a glass of soju or a glass of beer, increases the risk of cancer and death from cancer.

Meanwhile, in Nature Communications, researchers reported that “consuming dairy products and whole grains may lower the risk of colorectal cancer.”
