Bhopal: Two tribals have been beaten to death by 20 people for allegedly killing a cow in Madhya Pradesh’s Seoni district. The deceased were identified as Sampath Batti and Dhansa. One person was injured. Police said a group of 20 people went to the tribal mansion and attacked him, alleging that he had killed the cow. Both were brutally beaten and died on the way to hospital.
A case has been registered against 20 people, police said. Seoni police chief and other officials visited the home of the slain. Police said a case of murder has been registered against the accused and a search is on for them. About 12 kg of meat was recovered from the house of the slain. Congress MLA Arjun Singh Kakodia protested on the Jabalpur-Nagpur highway demanding action against the accused.
Kamal Nath, a Madhya Pradesh Congress leader and former chief minister, said some locals were claiming that Bajrang Dal was involved in the incident. According to the National Crime Records Bureau, Madhya Pradesh has the highest crime rate against tribals.
