Franz Tost, Scuderia AlphaTauri’s F1 team representative, acknowledges that the team needs to be more competitive.
Scuderia AlphaTauri, who finished 6th in the Constructors’ Ranking last year, had set a goal for this season within 5th, but is currently in 7th.
Franz Tost says the problem is not the driver.
“(Pierre) Guthrie is becoming one of the best drivers,” Franz Tost told Sport1.
“If we give him the right car, he can win the race. Unfortunately, our car can’t do this now. Our engineers need to find a solution.”
Franz Tost is also pleased with Yuki Tsunoda, who is now in his second year on the grid. In fact, Yuki Tsunoda has so far outperformed Pierre Guthrie by a few points.
“He’s in his second year, but we’re very happy with him,” Franz Tost said.
“I always say that it will take three years for the driver to settle completely in F1.”
“Kakuda has a lot of potential to draw out.”
For the more overall 2022 season, Franz Tost is for Red Bull Racing to return to the fight against Scuderia Ferrari. Imola said it was a “great race weekend.”
“Currently, Red Bull and Ferrari are driving in another world,” Franz Tost said.
“Verstappen had already begun to lap people on lap 41.”
“Ferrari was supposed to be there, but Imola opened the door to the world championships again.”
