James Allison, technical director of Mercedes F1, said, “Given that the machines are very new and very different, I imagine that one or two machines on the grid would actually make a terrible mistake. They will have a terribly painful year. “
Conversely, a team that correctly understands the new regulations can make a leap forward.
Franz Tost, Team Representative for AlphaTauri F1, hopes his team will fall into the latter category.

“I can’t compare it to others, but I trust the engineers who made the two good machines.”

Last season, AlphaTauri F1 finished sixth in the Constructors’ Championship and Pierre Guthrie took the podium at the F1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
AlphaTauri F1’s new AT03 hasn’t run on the track yet, but the team’s 2022 drivers began pre-season preparations at the Imola circuit on Tuesday, with Pierre Guthrie running on the AT01. The test will run for three days, with Yuki Tsunoda also participating.
