AlphaTauri F1 Pierre Guthrie recalls sponsorship scams he experienced during the GP2 era[F1-Gate .com]

Pierre Guthrie of AlphaTauri Honda F1 revealed that he was a victim of sponsorship fraud during the GP2 era.

Prior to the 2016 season, Piel Guthrie wanted to move from DAMS to Prema, who made his first GP2 entry. However, it took money to join Prema.

As a result, Pierre Guthrie flew to Uganda after contacting potential supporters.

“I had to find some sponsors and flew to Uganda,” Pierre Guthrie told

“I was supposed to meet someone who wanted to sponsor me. I needed a budget to compete in Prema. I was in the presidential election, so there was a high risk of rebellion in the country.”

“But I wanted to race with Prema and I had to look for money so I had to go there … I was 19 at the time.”

“In 24 hours we got a ticket and decided to go there for 12 hours and meet an unknown man, but he didn’t show up and unfortunately he couldn’t meet and got the money I couldn’t. “

Pierre Guthrie admits that the event was undoubtedly a learning experience.

“From start to finish, nothing went as expected and I must say it was a real adventure,” said Pierre Guthrie.

“I went there with my mother, but I thought I might not be able to go back to Europe anymore.”

“In fact, it was shocking in a way to see the poverty and situation of the people who lived there. We experienced shantytowns, and what’s happening in some parts of the world? I was made to understand how poverty affects them. “

“I came back without getting any money. I actually lost my plane ticket, but that was a good life lesson.”
