Alpine / Renault, Andretti’s entry into F1 support shooting[F1-Gate .com]

Alpine / Renault supports Michael Andretti’s efforts to enter F1 as the 11th team.

Liberty Media, the FIA, and at least half of the existing F1 teams are less enthusiastic about Andretti’s entry into F1. But McLaren, a former F1 employer of Michael Andretti, supports Andretti’s efforts.

Michael Andretti’s father and former F1 World Champion Mario Andretti will be demonstrating on an old McLaren F1 car at the F1 US Grand Prix in Austin later this year.

Mario Andretti said in Miami that his son is determined to convince F1 to approve his new team, Andretti Global, in 2024.

When asked if Andretti F1 could meet all requirements, including finance, Mario Andretti told Auto Motor und Sport, “We can do that.”

“With an American team and drivers, interest will explode.”

“Michael has everything he needs for a long-term project.”

However, many existing F1 teams object that the eleventh team effectively dilutes the value of the entry.

Not surprisingly, Alpine CEO Laurent Rossi supports Andretti F1’s entry, and team owner Renault has signed a contract to become an F1 engine supplier.

“I’m very fond of it,” said Laurent Rossi.

“It’s in line with the expansion in the United States. I think it will contribute to the show, generate direct interest in the United States, and thus generate revenue.”

“We need to prove that it’s enough to make up for the dilution of income. Intuition? I think so, but let’s work properly.”
