Also Kim Hyo-joo, KLPGA Championship 1R solo lead

Hyo-Joo Kim (Lotte) started the KLPGA Championship, the first major tournament of the Korean women’s professional golf (KLPGA) tour season, with the lead.

Kim Hyo-joo hit 7-under 65 in the first round of the tournament held at Ildong Lake Golf Club (par 72) in Pocheon, Gyeonggi-do on the 28th.

Kim Hyo-joo, who entrusted her caddy bag to her older sister, poured out 7 birdies without bouncing, heralding a pleasant start with Kim Hee-ji (BC Card) taking first place alone.

Kim Hyo-joo, who took the top spot at the Lotte Championship on the LPGA Tour, which ended on the 17th, started a strong start to conquer the 14th KLPGA tournament in her career.

Kim Hyo-joo said, “I’m satisfied with the nobogi play in Korea after a long time. There were a lot of mistakes today, but the putts followed well, so it was a satisfying round overall.”

Regarding the breathing with her older sister as a caddy, she said, “I was in the anticipation class, but it seems to fit well. I think she did better because she had fun. Of course, she doesn’t have any thoughts about winning, but I think she’ll get better grades if she plays more happily for the next three days,” she laughed.

While Kim Hee-ji pressured Kim Hyo-joo by one stroke, Kim Su-ji (Dongbu Construction) and Park Hye-joon (Hana Financial Group) formed a joint third place group with 5 under par 67.

Park Hyun-kyung (Korea Land Trust), who is aiming for the third consecutive championship in 40 years, was ranked joint 30 with a 1-under par 71 stroke.
