Amarinder joins new party in Punjab; Will share seats with BJP | Amarinder Singh | Punjab

Chandigarh: Former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has announced a new party. He said the name and symbol have been submitted to the Election Commission for approval and will be announced once it is received. Amarinder told a news conference that the new party would share the seat with the BJP. Amarinder had supported the central government’s decision to extend the BSF’s jurisdiction over the Punjab border.

Amarinder is set to form a new party after splitting with the Congress ahead of next year’s assembly elections. Many Congress workers have come forward to join the party. The new party will contest 117 seats. Amarinder said his government had fulfilled all the promises made in the manifesto. Amarinder said Navjot Singh Sidhu will face off from where he is contesting.
