The meeting discussed the development of cooperation under the MJ framework. The Mekong countries expressed their gratitude to Japan for its constructive role in infrastructure development, investment, technical assistance and human resource development for the sub-region. long It has also donated a large number of medical supplies and vaccines to the sub-region to help combat the spread of COVID-19.

The meeting exchanged views on the direction of promoting cooperation in the MJ framework in the future, especially the way to recover the economy after the Covid-19 epidemic situation. Representatives of Thailand and other Mekong countries agreed that Japan and the Mekong Sub-region should accelerate strengthening of supply chain links. and promoting digital transformation and economic growth models for a sustainable future.
