WASHINGTON: Tik Tok has been banned in more states in America. Tik Tok has been banned in more than 20 states citing security reasons. The most recent ban was in Kentucky. Tik Tok, the app of Chinese tech company Byte Dance, was also banned in India earlier.

Employees have been instructed not to use TikTok from government-controlled devices. The governors of states like Nordth Karolyi and Wisconsin have signed orders banning Tik Tok. Some states, including New Jersey, have suspended the services of some other Chinese apps and companies as well as TikTok. More apps may be restricted in the coming days as more checks are carried out. In 2020, the central government banned Tik Tok in India, accusing it of transferring customer data to China.

The Director of the FBI, Christopher Wray, had said in November that Tik Tok was a threat to national security. The FBI director also warned that the Chinese government could use the app to influence users or control their devices.
