In a disappointing match against their rivals, the Doosan Bears, the Lotte Giants struggled to maintain their defense and failed to deliver offensively, resulting in a 0-2 defeat.
The game, held at Sajik Stadium in Busan, showcased the pitching skills of Lotte Giants’ Charlie Barnes. In an impressive performance, Barnes pitched 7 innings, allowing only 1 run and 5 hits, achieving a quality start. However, the Giants could not capitalize on Barnes’ efforts due to errors in the field and a lackluster batting lineup.
The Lotte Giants started the game positively as leadoff batter Yoon Dong-hee secured a hit in the first inning. Despite the opportunity, the team failed to score, and their offensive struggles continued throughout the game.
The turning point came in the third inning when an unfortunate infield defensive error allowed the Doosan Bears to score their first run. Barnes had been performing flawlessly until then, but a throw from third baseman Han Dong-hee went astray, giving the Bears the advantage they needed.
Despite some chances to tie the game, the Lotte Giants couldn’t find their footing offensively. An error by Doosan in the sixth inning gave them another opportunity, but they failed to capitalize on it. The Giants’ interim manager, Lee Jong-woon, made a pitching change in the eighth inning, putting Koo Seung-min on the mound. However, Doosan managed to score another run, sealing the Giants’ fate.
In their final attempt to stage a comeback in the ninth inning, the Lotte Giants’ hitters, including Jun-Woo Jeon and An Chi-hong, could not make an impact, resulting in a decisive victory for the Doosan Bears.
The defeat against the Doosan Bears widened the gap between the Lotte Giants, currently in sixth place, and their rivals. The Bears now hold a 4.5-game lead over the Giants.
The Lotte Giants will need to address their defensive issues and revive their batting lineup if they want to secure victories in future matches.

The Lotte Giants, a professional baseball team, were caught in the footsteps of the Doosan Bears, one of their rivals in round 5 this season. Interim manager Lee Jong-woon of Lotte recorded 1 win and 1 loss in the two games he played after Larry Sutton voluntarily resigned. The difference between Lotte and Doosan in 6th place was 4.5 games.
Lotte lost 2-0 in the 12th game of the season against Doosan held at Sajik Stadium in Busan on the 3rd. Lotte started pitcher Charlie Barnes, who gave up 1 run in 7 innings, but lost to Doosan due to the silence of the opposing lineup and overlapping defensive errors in the field.
Lotte threw a perfect pitch with 1 run (0 earned runs) in 7 innings by Barnes, but unfortunately lost as third baseman Han Dong-hee’s throw to 2nd became the score final.

Lotte got on base in the first inning as leadoff hitter Yoon Dong-hee caught left-handed spinner Doosan Brandon and hit a shot to left-center. However, Jeong-Hun’s double and left fielder Ahn Chi-Hong failed to capitalize on the scoring opportunity. In Lotte’s second inning, Gudrum reached second with a long big hit, but Han Dong-hee and Seo Dong-wook stepped back with a grounder and could not put strength on Barnes’ shoulders.
Lotte lost the first run in the third inning. The unfortunate infield defense was the cause of the loss. Starter Lotte Barnes managed to stop 6 Doosan batters perfectly with 22 balls till the second innings. Barnes allowed the first hit to Kang Seung-ho, Doosan’s 7th leadoff hitter, in the 3rd inning. Barnes treated 8th batter Lee Yu-chan as a regular baseman in front of the third baseman, but Han Dong-hee’s throw to second base headed over second baseman An Chi-hong’s head and fell back. Lotte blocked Doosan’s double steal attempt with Barnes on first base, but the runner on third grounded out at home and gave up the first run.

Lotte could not make use of the opportunity to tie the game with 1 run and 3rd place in the 4th inning. Lotte’s leadoff hitter, An Chi-hong, got on base with a double that slid past the third baseman. An outside sacrifice hit by Jeon Jun-woo allowed An Chi-hong to settle at third. Gudrum’s hit ball was caught by Doosan shortstop Kim Jae-ho, and Han Dong-hee failed to reach base again with an infield ground ball following the first inning, and Lotte’s score was canceled.
At the start of the 6th inning, Lotte faced a run-in crisis with another error by Doosan. Barnes treated second baseman Kim Jae-ho as an ordinary shortstop, but Goodrum made an error in the throw to first base and allowed him to get on base. Fortunately, Barnes took care of the rest of the batters with two fly balls and a ground ball, so there were no extra runs. By the 7th innings, Barnes tied the Doosan line with 93 balls, 1 run, 5 hits and 4 strikeouts. In his first start in 10 days due to a rain cancellation, Barnes took the mound after throwing 7 innings, 1 run and a quality start along with a pitch.
Lotte gave up an extra run to Doosan in the 8th inning. Interim manager Lee Jong-woon of Lotte put Koo Seung-min on the mound in the 8th inning. In an away game against the Hanwha Eagles on the 1st, Koo Seung-min recorded 20 catches for 4 consecutive years, the second time in the history of the Korean Professional Baseball league (KBO). Koo Seung-min gave Kim Tae-geun a ball that fits his body. Then, with Doosan’s sacrifice bunt, they faced a one-run, second-base crisis. Koo Seung-min gave Yang Eui-ji a shot in front of the midfielder and allowed the team’s second run.
In the 9th inning, Jung-Hoon No. 2, Chi-Hong Mae No. 3, and Jun-Woo Jeon No. 4 went on the last chase, but failed to score and gave up the game.
