Eight people were injured in a fire at a gas filling station in Daegu this evening.

Reporter Kim, it’s been about two hours since the explosion happened. How is the situation?

Yes, there was an explosion at the gas filling station behind me.
At that time, the roof was blown off and the facility was destroyed by the impact of the explosion, and this place turned into a mess.
There’s a command line around it right now, so you can’t access it.
Currently, fire authorities are investigating the risk of a secondary explosion, but so far, it has been determined that there is no risk of additional explosions or accidents.
The explosion happened around 5:30pm.
About the time I was about to leave work, a huge flame suddenly broke out at the roadside LP gas filling station on the 9th round trip.
The impact was so severe that the CCTV on the building across the street was violently shaken.

“Suddenly, something like a missile seemed to fall in front, and an explosion suddenly occurred. Vehicles caught fire, and another minute or two were caught on fire. When I saw people coming out , I ran and called 119 and called 112…”
The flames caused by the explosion lasted for about 10 seconds and then died down, but the fire continued in the charging station.
A vehicle waiting for an LPG gas refill and a gas tank vehicle were also engulfed in flames.
There was also a loud roar and vibration which caused the windows of nearby buildings to break.
Eight people, including six charging station workers and two customers, suffered burns and smoke inhalation from the explosion and were taken to five hospitals, including Ysbyty Purun and Ysbyty Catholig, for treatment.
It was confirmed that three of them were seriously injured.
The fire department announced the second stage of the response within 10 minutes of receiving the fire report, and it was extinguished in about 20 minutes with 47 vehicles and fire fighting equipment and about 220 personnel.
Fire authorities believe that the explosion occurred in the gas container store at the back of the charging station. On the site, there is also a statement that the explosion occurred at the moment a large tank lorry vehicle that supplies LP gas moved the gas to the charging station and the engine started.
The fire department is controlling the scene and preparing for the risk of additional explosions.
