Apgujeong Hyundai Apartment, one of the most famous apartments in Gangnam, Seoul.
When the ‘Gapjil Prevention Act’, which prohibits valet parking by security guards, came into effect, they used a trick to change the name of the guard to ‘manager’ and continued to manage the parking.
This time, ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday, these managers were unilaterally notified of layoffs.

In fact, other co-workers don’t eat, but run out and move the car.

“I can’t resist. They’re busy… I can’t wait for five minutes, I can’t wait for one minute…”
With the enforcement of the Security Guard Abuse Prevention Act in October of last year, it is not possible to have security guards park on their behalf.
Then, Apgujeong Shin Hyundai Apartment changed only the name of security guard to ‘manager’ and managed the parking as it is.
Due to the nature of the task of performing surveillance work, security guards only need to give 7 hours of rest if they work 24 hours every other day.
However, as the Labor Standards Act applies, managers must guarantee a break of 10 hours and 30 minutes, which is 3 hours and 30 minutes longer.
When the apartment side tried a trick to change the name to a manager to keep parking, the managers then demanded a break time or additional pay according to the law.
The apartment’s response was a one-sided notice of dismissal four days before the Lunar New Year holiday.

“If you boil ramen and eat it, and then come in without tea, what will happen to your ramen? It’s the only crime I’ve been guilty of working so hard.”
Eight out of 75 managers and security guards received a call telling them not to come out from next month.
The remaining 67 people will be converted to ultra-short-term contract workers who renew their contracts after two months.

“Five days before the Lunar New Year, I notified five security workers to fire them. Fire is murder.”
The apartment side explained, “The new service company that was recently replaced went through an interview and filtered out those who do not fit the company policy.”
Also, regarding the two-month early-short-term conversion, he added that if there are no problems after two months, the contract will be extended.
The break time allowance requested by one manager is 200,000 won per month, and about 10,000 won per household, which is the representative apartment in Gangnam.
