Apple confirms that keyboard vibration in iOS 16 causes iPhone battery to drain!

iOS 16 comes with a responsive keyboard feature. Allow users to turn on keyboard vibration (Haptic Keyboard) If the user types letters or presses the keyboard, the device will vibrate in response to what the user types.

(The keyboard vibration feature is supported on iPhone 8 or later or iPhone models with Taptic Engine.)

The feature provides better user-to-device interaction, but Apple notes that “turning on keyboard vibration may affect iPhone battery life.” As a result, the battery is used more than usual.

Another thing to note is that even if the user has enabled Low Power Mode, the vibration feature of the keyboard will still be active. The user must go in and turn it off on their own.

How to turn on/off the keyboard vibration feature?

Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Keyboard Response > Slide on/off the “Vibrate” menu.Sources: MacRumors, Apple Support.
