AR mobile game “Pikmin Bloom” in collaboration with Nintendo and Niantic | TechCrunch Japan

On October 26, Niantic announced the augmented reality mobile game “Pikmin Bloom,” which was created in collaboration with Nintendo.

Pikmin Bloom is encouraged to go out and explore the neighborhood, like “Pokémon Go”. However, this time, instead of catching Pidgey and Rattata, they collect seedlings to form a group of Pikmin. The more you walk, the more Pikmin will gather. This is a hybrid of plants and animals, derived from Nintendo’s series of strategy and puzzle games of the same name.

Pikmin Bloom is the sixth in the series. There are quite a few types of Pikmin that players interact with, and behind the user’s walk there are footprints of flowers in augmented reality. In the in-game footage of the announcement video above, it seems that you can customize your avatar as a Mii Pikmin.

Another borrowing from Pokémon Go is the monthly Community Day event. Previously, when I was caught by a special bonus and went outside, I was able to get a rare Pokemon once a month. It’s an invitation to go out and make friends. Niantic hasn’t released details yet, but says Pikmin Bloom’s monthly community day allows you to plant and play with Pikmin.

It’s Metaverse gardening 🙂
