The King of Qatar visited the KBS exchange booth and asked how Heung-Min Son (30, Tottenham) was doing.

Koo Ja-cheol, a former member of the national team who made his debut as a KBS commentator at the Qatar 2022 World Cup, released a conversation scene he had with King Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar on his YouTube channel on the 21st.

Koo Ja-cheol approached the king, saying, “This is a great blow.” After greeting Koo Ja-cheol with a smile, the king said, “How is the Korean team? He asked, “Are you ready to play?” and then he asked, “Are you ready for SON?”

Koo Ja-cheol said, “Our team and Son Heung-min are ready. Although he has an injury, Son Heung-min participated in training and will go to the game,” he said, naturally continuing the conversation with the king.

Then Koo Ja-cheol said to the king, “I also played as a player in Qatar three years ago. I’m so happy to meet you,” he said, unable to hide his excitement.

Between 2019 and 2021, Koo Ja-cheol played for Al Garrafa SC and Al Khor SC in the Qatar Professional Football Stars League.

The King even said “Thank you” in Korean before leaving the booth. Even after the king left, Koo Ja-cheol continued to show disbelief, explaining to people that he was “the king who is greatly loved by the people of Qatar.”
