Barthelemy Atangana Omgba, 35, was arrested on May 22 by elements of the central judicial research service of the national gendarmerie for fraud.
He didn’t deal with just anyone. The heads of gendarmerie units were his targets. The suspect, Barthelemy Atangana Omgba, promised them better positions of affection and in return, they had to put their hands in their pockets. During his arrest on May 22, the man said that it was the only way he had found to make money.
“It was a friend who showed me how to get the numbers of the national gendarmerie and the police,” he explained. And to roll these interlocutors in the flour, he presented himself as the head of the private secretariat of the Secretary of State to the Minister of Defense, in charge of the gendarmerie. “I offered them assignments and they gave me large sums of money. I have no control over the number of people I have been able to defraud since August 2022, because I was working every day. I think I had enough money, because sometimes it was 200 or 500,000 F”, he revealed to the investigators.
On May 22, the elements of the central judicial research service of the national gendarmerie whistled the end of recess. The defendant was arrested and then referred to the prosecution. As a convict, he will still have to answer for fraud and usurpation of title. According to Lieutenant Olivier Dang Nguele, of the central judicial research service, everything was against him.
