Artist erects memorial statue at Kobe Bryant helicopter crash site | HYPEBEAST

Today is the second anniversary of the tragic death of legendary player Kobe Bryant in a helicopter crash. Earlier Los Angeles Lakers officials, as well as a number of stars and celebrities from different fields, have issued a message to express their congratulations.

In addition, the sculpture artist Dan Medina also specially created two statues, namely Kobe Bryant and Gianna Bryant in life-size and small versions. The two wore jerseys to face each other, and the small statue was specially placed in California. In Calabasas, where the helicopter accident happened, Dan Medina told the Los Angeles Times: “The flowers, the jerseys, the hats all got blown away by the wind, and I think we need something more timeless.”

The statue weighs 160 pounds and is engraved with the names of the nine deceased and Kobe Bryant’s famous saying “Heroes come and go but legends are forever.” Dan Medina hopes that after the statue is displayed at the site, it will be able to Moved somewhere in downtown Los Angeles to continue on permanent display.
