As of 6 pm on the 15th, 370,000 people across the country have been confirmed with the new coronavirus infection (COVID-19). This is the highest number ever for the same time period. It is also predicted that the number of new confirmed cases per day will exceed 400,000 for the first time since the COVID-19 outbreak.
According to each local government, including Seoul, from 00:00 to 6pm on the same day, at least 370,043 people in 17 cities and provinces across the country were confirmed. 121,966 people jumped from the 255,077 count for the same time period the day before.
As of 00:00 on the 12th, the number of new daily infections, the highest ever, was 388,665. As there are six hours left until 12:00 p.m., the number of new confirmed cases in one day is expected to far exceed this number.
In the past week (3.9-15), the number of new confirmed cases per day was 342433 → 327,532 → 289,78 → 388,659 → 357,88 → 309,790 → 362,338. In addition to the recovery of the test volume on weekdays, if a professional rapid antigen test (RAT) is positive from the previous day, it is recognized as a confirmed case, and the number is interpreted to have increased significantly.
In a briefing the previous day, the quarantine authorities predicted that as a result of predictions of future outbreaks conducted by domestic and foreign researchers on the 9th, it would peak around the 23rd and then turn to a decreasing trend. The peak period was widely predicted from the 16th to the 22nd, and the scale was also suggested to be between 310,000 and 370,000 people on average per day.
