Asian Games Wrestlers Protest

Wrestlers protesting against Brij Bhushan Singh are reportedly interested in participating in the Asian Games Trials. It is said that the actors have expressed interest in taking part in the trials which are to be held at the end of this month. The final list is to be submitted to the Olympic Council of Asia on July 15. Therefore, Sports Minister Anurag Thakur had said that all the national sports federations are in the final stage of selecting the squads. Meanwhile, the wrestlers want more time to prepare for the trials. International wrestler and Sakshi Malik’s husband Sathyavrat Katian said at least a month is needed for preparation.

The wrestlers had said that the government had sought more time to complete the investigation against Brij Bhushan. Witness Malik said the government had sought time until June 15 to complete the investigation. Sakshi Malik’s reaction came after a marathon discussion with Union Minister Anurag Thakur. Sakshi Malik responded that the protest has not ended and if there is no decision by June 15, the strike will continue. Sakshi Malik added that the matter will be discussed with farmers’ leaders.

The minister said that the police investigation will be completed by June 15. Bajrang Punia said that the minister has asked to avoid protests until then, the minister has assured that the case against the players will be withdrawn. and that security will be ensured for women wrestlers, said Bajrang Punia.

The wrestlers protesting against the BJP MP and former president of the wrestling federation, Brij Bhushan, have placed five conditions before the National Sports Minister Anurag Thakur. The main demand is for free and fair elections for the federation and for a woman to be appointed to the position of president. The players also demanded that Brij Bhushan and his family should not be part of the wrestling federation.
