In a recent promotional event for the film, actor Asif Ali opened up about his first encounter with pawning gold. He shared his fascinating story with RJ Raghav on Club FM’s Club Studio.

When asked about his first gold purchase, Asif Ali admitted that he couldn’t recall exactly what he bought, but he vividly remembered the momentous occasion. The incident took place when he was around 21-22 years old, after he had moved to Kochi with the aspiration of making it big in the Malayalam film industry. Modeling had been his first stepping stone into the world of cinema. Although he didn’t have a notable portfolio, he found himself being part of a photoshoot without any expectations.

During that time, he happened to have a gold ring in his possession. Asif Ali decided to pawn it and, to his surprise, he saw one of his own pictures from a previous photoshoot displayed behind the counter. The photo was showcased as part of an advertisement offering various prizes. As he was completing the transaction, the woman at the counter asked for his ID, and Asif Ali was dumbfounded as he glanced at his own image on the ad. Unexpectedly, the person next to him chuckled and remarked, “Why do you need an ID when your picture is right there on the advertisement?” This encounter marked Asif Ali’s first experience with gold pawning.

‘Kasargold’: A collaboration between Asif Ali and director Mridul Nair

‘Kasargold’ is a remarkable film produced by Sarigama in association with Mukhari Entertainments and Eudley Films. This is the second collaboration between Asif Ali and director Mridul Nair, following their successful film ‘B Tech’. The star-studded cast also includes Siddique, Sampath Ram, Deepak Parambol, Dhruvan, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Prashant Murali, Sagar Surya, and James Elia. Asif Ali and Sunny Wayne, who previously worked together in ‘Kuttyammayude Sookshikkuka’, have once again united for this project. The music for ‘Kasargold’ has been composed by the talented Vishnu Vijay, known for creating magic with his tunes in ‘Thallumala’.

Asif Ali told an interesting story in response to the presenter’s question about when he first bought gold. Asif Ali’s introduction said that he does not remember what he bought and he remembers that he promised. He will be 21-22 years old then. He came to Kochi with the desire to be a part of Malayalam cinema and he is standing still. Modeling was the first step into films. Although there wasn’t much to look at, the photo shoot was going on. Asif Ali recalled that he was part of the photo shoot without looking for anything.

At that time he had a gold ring in his hand. Once I went to pawn it and saw a picture that was part of one of my previous photoshoots. After buying the ring, when the sister at the counter asked me if I have an ID, I was looking at the picture and was stunned. Then the person who came forward says; Why ID, look at that ad on the back. Asif Ali said it was his first experience with gold.
