Assam Chief Minister invites Lovelina Borgohein to join police

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Bishwa Sharma has invited Lovelina Borgohein, who won a bronze medal for India in boxing at the Tokyo Olympics, to join the police.

The Chief Minister made the request to the actress to join the police during a function in Guwahati to congratulate her.

Until the Paris Olympics, the Assam government will provide financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh per month to Lavlina, said Himanta Bishwa. She added that a Rs 25 crore sports complex would be set up in her name at Saupathar in Golaghat district of Assam.

Lovelina is the third Indian boxer to win an Olympic medal after Mary Kom and Vijender Singh. Lovelina won bronze in the women’s welterweight (69 kg) category.
