Of the 15 Ukrainian soldiers executed, 11 were found to have been killed by the Wagner Group, a Russian civilian mercenary.

Bogner, the head of the human rights monitoring team, expressed concern, saying that five rounds of investigations had also revealed that Ukrainian forces had summarily executed 25 Russian prisoners of war.

He added that Ukrainian prosecutors are investigating some cases in this regard, but no charges have been filed yet.

It emerged that prisoners of war who escaped death had also suffered violence and torture at the hands of the enemy.

OHCHR said many more prisoners of war could have been executed or subjected to extreme violence.

OHCHR added that such cases could constitute war crimes, noting that the killing and beating of prisoners of war is prohibited under international law.
