Manama: India’s Ramkumar Ramanathan won the ATP Tennis Challenger Singles Final organized by the Public Security Sports Association at the Bahraini Ministry of Interior. The 27-year-old Ramkumar, who has lost six previous Challenge finals, defeated Russian opponent Evgeny Karlovsky in 68 minutes (6-1, 6-4).
Sixth seed Ramkumar, who is ranked 222nd in the world, had a better performance against 302nd Karlovsky. This is Ramkumari’s first ATP Challenger Singles title in her 12 – year career. With 80 ranking points, Ramkumar will return to the top 200. He will also become the highest ranked Indian in the ATP Singles Rankings Chart.
