Bangladesh triumph in T20; Victory in the second match against New Zealand

Dhaka: Bangladesh’s triumphant run in the T20 continues. Following on the series victory over Australia, Bangladesh won the second match of the series 2-0 to take a 2-0 lead in the five – match series.

Batting first, Bangladesh scored 141 for six in 20 overs while New Zealand were bowled out for 137 for five in 20 overs. This is Bangladesh ‘s sixth win in the last seven T20I matches against Australia and New Zealand.

With five wickets in hand, New Zealand needed 28 runs to win the last two overs. The Kiwis were bowled out for eight in the 19th over by Mohammad Saifuddin. New Zealand were bowled out for 15 in the final over by Mustafizur Rahman.

Mehdi Hasan and Shakib Al Hasan took two wickets each for Bangladesh. For the Kiwis, Tom Latham (65 not out off 49 balls), Will Young (22) and Colin McConaughey (15 not out) were the standout batsmen. Earlier, batting first, openers Mohammad Naeem (39) and Litton Das (33) gave Bangladesh a good start with 59 runs for the opening wicket.

In the middle order, skipper Mohammadullah (37 not out off 32 balls) and Noorul Hasan (13) put on 141 for the loss of three wickets. Rachin Ravindra took three wickets for the Kiwis. The third match of the series will be played on Sunday.
