Bank of Korea returns to its headquarters building on Namdaemun-ro, Seoul. Workers scattered in Samsung’s main building, Bank of Korea’s bach-gong annex, and Gangnam headquarters gathered again after about five years.
The Bank of Korea announced on the 24th, “With the remodeling of the main building and the reconstruction of the integrated annex building completed and move-in possible, the Bank of Korea has decided to relocate the headquarters departments and used in the Main Samsung building and the Sogong annex to the Bank of Korea headquarters.”
Bank of Korea previously undertook a project to remodel the main building and rebuild the integrated annex to strengthen the safety and security of the headquarters building. While construction was underway, many BOK headquarters departments rented Samsung’s main building in Jung-gu, Seoul, and lived in rent.
The relocation of the department will be done consecutively from the end of this month to the end of next month. However, it was decided to relocate the Foreign Exchange Audit Team, a public affairs department responsible for reporting on foreign exchange transactions, on a public holiday. This is to minimize inconvenience to financial institutions and external civil petitioners during the transfer process.
Sections within the Currency Museum that are not being rebuilt will not be relocated. The publication office, which moved to the BOK Gangnam headquarters, plans to relocate later with a separate schedule.
Bank of Korea explained that even after moving in, each department’s phone number will be used the same as it is now.
