Bank with Navratri ‘dress code’, daily group photo; Otherwise fine

Alappuzha: Union Bank of India, a public sector bank, has introduced a dress code for its employees for Navratri celebrations. Employees will have to pay a fine of Rs 200 if they do not dress according to the prescribed color each day. The bank employees’ union came out against the circular.

The circular includes the colors to be worn till the 15th day of Navratri celebrations. It is also suggested that a group photo be taken and sent each day. Employees say that wearing Kerala clothes on festive occasions like Onam is of their own free will and not under any compulsion.

The circular has been issued to Union Bank branches from its Mumbai headquarters. There is also a proposal to organize indoor games at bank branches on the occasion of Navratri.
