Barcelona are set to sign Atletico defender Inigo Martinez. Spanish newspaper Marca reported.
Brought up in Sociedad’s academy, he made his debut for the top team in the summer of 2011, and has since earned a reputation as one of La Liga’s best defenders. He quickly became an integral part of Atletico, where he joined permanently in the summer of 2018, but played 18 games in all competitions in the 2022-23 season despite being plagued by injuries.
Barcelona tried to sign Martinez in the summer of 2022, but they could not pay the release clause. He has agreed a two-year deal when his contract with Atletico expires in the summer of 2023.
