BCCI: Harbhajan ready to retire from active cricket; Know the new mission

Mumbai: India’s veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh last played international cricket in 2016. It was against the UAE. The last Test and ODI will be played in 2015. But he was active in the IPL all this time. The last IPL match will be played on April 18 this year for Kolkata Knight Riders. However, he did not get a chance in any of the subsequent matches.

Harbhajan is all set to retire from active cricket. An official decision is expected next week. The news agency PTI has reported this. According to reports, Harbhajan, who is leaving the field, may take up a new role in the IPL. Harbhajan is being considered by some IPL franchises for the roles of consultant, mentor and advisor.

According to reports, Harbhajan is likely to take on a new role ahead of the IPL mega-auction. It is learned that one or two teams have approached Harbhajan to join the coaching staff. When he was a Mumbai Indians star, Harbhajan paid special attention to nurturing youngsters.

When the second phase of the IPL was played in the UAE, Harbhajan could not play a single match. Kolkata considered Varun Chakraborty and Sunil Narine.
