BCCI is unhappy with the entertainment tax controversy of the match tickets to be played at Kariyavattam during the India-Sri Lanka ODI series. The BCCI has sought information from the Kerala Cricket Association regarding the controversies. The BCCI is said to be unhappy that various problems arise in Kerala whenever international matches are allowed.
KCA is trying to get at least one ODI World Cup match to be held in India later this year at the Sports Hub Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. KCA is worried about not getting the game due to controversies.
BCCI is considering holding IPL matches at neutral venues. Thiruvananthapuram is also likely to be the venue. But controversies and problems have stopped this move. There are indications that efforts are being made to get Kerala its own team in the Women’s IPL.
The entertainment tax was increased from 5% to 12%. The Minister says that despite the last tax reduction, ticket prices did not come down and the organizers did not reduce the tax in order not to make too much profit.
The BCCI ticket price to watch the match at Kariyavattam is Rs 1000 for the upper tier and Rs 2000 for the lower tier. 18 percent GST, 12 percent corporation entertainment tax and booking charge, the lowest ticket price is Rs 1445.
