Biden Declares End of Pandemic, Shows Prospects for Controlling Inflation – Bloomberg

US President Biden has declared that the coronavirus pandemic is over and said that the US will “control” inflation. It looks like he has presented a bright outlook for the US economy with less than two months until the mid-term elections.

Comments on the CBS program “60 Minutes” broadcast on the 18th. In the interview, Biden also expressed hope that the US economy could achieve a “soft landing” as the Fed raises interest rates to curb inflation.

Asked if inflation, as measured by the consumer price index (CPI), would continue to slow, Biden said: “Here we tell you we will control inflation.” Prescription drugs, medical costs and energy prices will fall, he said. US CPI rose 8.3% in August from a year earlier, down from 8.5% in July, but beat market expectations of 8.1%.
