Biden: Putin is isolating himself… Close associates fired and pensioned

[뉴욕=뉴스핌]Correspondent Kim Geun-cheol = US President Joe Biden pointed out on the 31st (local time) that Russian President Vladimir Putin seems to be isolating himself.

President Biden responded to reporters’ questions after announcing the release of 1 million barrels of strategic oil per day at the White House on the same day.

“He appears to be isolating himself,” Biden said in a statement. He added, however, that he does not want to comment much on the matter at the moment.

When asked whether Russia was withdrawing its troops as a measure to ease tensions following the invasion of Ukraine, Biden said he was “a bit skeptical” and said “there is no clear evidence”.

Recently, concerns have been raised in the West that President Putin is making arbitrary decisions under conditions that are not in a normal state of mind over the fact that he is pushing ahead with an unreasonable invasion of Ukraine.

“We have information that President Putin is being misled by the Russian military,” said Kate Bedingfield, the White House’s press secretary on the day before.

“We believe Putin is getting misinformation from his aides about how badly the Russian military is performing and how the Russian economy is being paralyzed by sanctions. It’s because I’m afraid.”

The New York Times, citing intelligence reports from U.S. intelligence agencies, pointed out that Putin appears to be receiving misinformation about the struggles of the Russian military in Ukraine.

There are also observations that President Putin severely criticized or purged his aides who had a different opinion than he had when the war situation was unfavorable in the early stages of the invasion of Ukraine.
