BJP wins local body elections in Karnataka Karnataka Civic Poll Results | BJP

Bangalore: The BJP has won a landslide victory in the Karnataka local body elections. The BJP won 97 of the 195 seats. The others won seats were Congress 70, JDS 5, AIMIM 4 and Independents 19. This is the first election victory since Basavaraj Bomme became the Chief Minister, succeeding BS Yeddyurappa.

The BJP came first in Belagavi and Hubballi-Dharwad corporations and second in Kalaburagi. The BJP is contesting 35 of the 58 seats in Belagavi. Congress was reduced to 10 seats. The Maharashtra Unification Committee (MES), which contested with the support of the Shiv Sena, failed to make significant gains. The BJP’s victory here comes against the backdrop of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and others arguing that Belagavi should be part of Maharashtra.

In Hubballi-Dharwad, the BJP won the saffron flag in 39 of the 82 seats. While the Congress won 33 seats, the JDS lost one seat. AIMIM shocked by winning three seats. Six wins are free. In Kalaburagi, the Congress is leading with 27 out of 55 seats. The BJP won 23 seats after a tough contest. The party ranks are JDS4 and Independent1. Since no one has an absolute majority here, a BJP-JDS alliance is possible. In the elections held on September 3, 1105 candidates contested for three seats.
