Blizzard co-leader Jen Oneal left after only 3 months in office will continue to promote diversity and inclusion

Blizzard Entertainment co-leader Jen Oneal, who just took over the position of former Blizzard president J. Allen Brack in August this year, announced his departure through a blue post announcement earlier today and pointed out that Activision will donate US$1 million to Women In Games International.

Jen Oneal said in a blue post: “In the past few months, many of us have been asking ourselves how we can show the most positive changes in the workplace, games, and communities. From a macro perspective, Mike and I, and Blizzard The other members of the team have been making important changes that we must undertake to ensure that our workplaces and gaming communities are truly inclusive, safe, and attractive to everyone.”

Today she decided to leave Blizzard, and Mike Ybarra will lead Blizzard from now on. She explained: “This decision was not because I had no hope for Blizzard. On the contrary, I was inspired by the enthusiasm of everyone here, who worked wholeheartedly to achieve meaningful and lasting changes. This energy inspired me to go out and explore how to do it. More things and hope to have a broader industry impact, which will also benefit Blizzard and other studios at the same time.”

The executives of ABK (Activision Blizzard King) generously supported her decision and together planned an investment to support other women in the game industry in the future. The company will donate one million US dollars to Women In Games International (WIGI). The donation will be used to develop skills and coaching programs. It is understood that WIGI is a non-profit organization dedicated to cultivating and promoting equality and diversity in the global game industry.

“In the remaining time, I will transfer my responsibilities to Mike, and will also switch to a new role to promote the close cooperation between Activision Blizzard and WIGI. The first step will be to decide how to use the donation.” On the other hand, Jen mentioned: “During the past period, Mike and I have made many decisions together to continue making Blizzard a safer, stronger and more inclusive workplace. I know he will have some plans soon. Share with everyone.”
