‘Breakthrough’ challenge in Kovid defense; Delta variant concern

Pathanamthitta ോ Has the third wave arrived? Or is the second wave continuing? In the midst of uncertainty, many districts, including Pathanamthitta and Thiruvananthapuram, are under threat of ‘break through’. There is also concern that the new Delta virus is breaching the immunity of those who have been vaccinated.

The central team that visited the state yesterday warned of vigilance in Pathanamthitta, Thiruvananthapuram and Malappuram districts. In Pathanamthitta, 5042 people became positive two weeks before taking the first dose and 258 after taking two doses two weeks later. The team suggested that this be taken seriously and that necessary changes be made in defense strategies.

However, as this is only 0.07 per cent of the total cases, there is no need to worry for the time being. AL Sheeja said. Two weeks after taking both doses, the body develops antibodies and becomes immune. Health experts also say that there is nothing unusual about a vaccine that is not 100 percent effective.

The virus can be present inside the vaccine without any symptoms. These can be carriers. Kovid is more likely to appear 14 days after taking the second dose. But the relief is that it does not lead to serious conditions like shortness of breath.

Congestion problem at vaccination centers

The Department of Health does not rule out the possibility of infection from overcrowding at vaccination centers. The fact that 14,974 people who went to receive the first dose were positive within 14 days is an indication that they have forgotten the protocol in this direction. Some people think that the disease is not transmitted from the injection centers and that the first dose or the second dose should not be taken with caution. Many of them, especially the elderly, came out only for vaccinations.

80 Delta accounts for 80% of Pathanamthitta

The central team demanded that blood samples from such cases be sent for genetic testing to find out the reason for the increase in ‘break through infection’ in the district. About 50 samples are sent from the district every month. This may need to be increased. Not only is it not time to give up on the idea that vaccination is better, but it is also time to be more vigilant.

In Pathanamthitta district, the Central team reports that 80 per cent of Kovid spreads are from the Delta variety. It is highly contagious and highly contagious. According to the Zero Prevention Survey, Kerala has the lowest virus outbreak (44%). In districts like Pathanamthitta, the rate will come down further. Kovid came to the district with a population of about 11 lakhs and 1.3 lakhs. Barely 12 per cent.

The remaining 88 percent have no antibody. But this can be achieved through vaccination. The number of first dose users in the district is 7,89,296. Ninety-three percent of adults in the district received a single dose. The number of people who received both doses was 3,62,767. This is about 50 percent of the adult population.

Covid-Vaccine

The vaccine is recommended for children and young people. The possibility of an increase in breakthrough cases in the district cannot be ruled out if the delta variant continues to intensify and people forget control. In addition, there is the threat of re-infection. There are many cases of Kovid coming back to Kovid in the state. In Pathanamthitta district it is 0.5 per cent.

നം Pathanamthitta is one of the 22 extreme districts

According to a report by a panel of experts appointed by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, seven of the 22 districts in the country where Kovid is growing are in Kerala. This includes Pathanamthitta and Kottayam. Pathanamthitta and Palakkad were the first districts in the state to find the Delta variety.

The central team suggested that the district should form and control micro-containment zones as there are more tribal communities and senior citizens and a network of isolated villages. Failure to conduct RT-PCR tests and non-transfer of people by preparing contact lists of covid victims is increasing the prevalence.
