A professional fisherman in the Netherlands is stunned after catching an unusual dark yellow catfish. Martin Glattus, who was fishing in the lake with his twin brother Oliver, had previously caught many catfish. But he says he has never seen anything like it. This is a catfish known as the Wells Catfish.

Wells catfish are native to lakes and rivers throughout Europe. When fully grown, they can grow up to 2.7 m in length. However, it is thought that this incredible color of the fish may be due to a rare genetic disorder known as leucism. It is a rare genetic disorder that causes the skin and hair to lose pigmentation. “I have never seen a catfish like this before. I’m still shocked at it,” Glatz told LiveScience.

Although it may seem very attractive to humans, creatures with leucism often live in adverse conditions. This is because of their bright color which makes them easy to spot. This makes it more difficult for hunters to avoid or catch prey.

Glatz took out the fish and then he put it back in the water. But he did not forget to take a picture with it. This species is listed as one of the largest freshwater fish in the world. This color-causing condition has previously been observed in mammals, birds, and reptiles.
