A British woman has been sentenced to prison for attacking sulfuric acid over suspicion of her boyfriend’s affair.

On the 19th (local time), local media such as the British Daily Mail and The Mirror announced that the Harrow Crown Court sentenced Esther Afrifa to 14 years in prison for attacking her boyfriend with sulfuric acid.

Previously, Afrifa purchased 1 liter of sulfuric acid on the Internet in December 2019, suspecting an affair between her boyfriend, Kelvin Fogo, and her college classmate.

Afterwards, he hid the purchased sulfuric acid in his bedroom in Wembley, north London, and sprayed it on Pogo’s upper body at dawn on December 22. At the time, Pogo did not realize that the sulfuric acid burns were the fault of Afripa and asked for help.

But Afrifa pretended to report it, prevented Pogo from contacting other friends, and canceled the taxi she called to go to the hospital. He also sprayed sulfuric acid once more on Pogo, who was burned and lying on the sofa.

Eventually, Pogo escaped from the apartment and was taken to the hospital with the help of a passerby on the street. However, Pogo suffered permanent damage to his eyes, head, face, and upper body in the accident.

After the crime, Afrifa was roaming a nearby alley and was arrested by the police. According to the investigation, Afrifa originally intended to make Pogo drink sulfuric acid water, but it was reported that the plan was revised after Pogo found out that he had a distrust of tap water.

A local investigator said that there is a high possibility that Afrifa would be deported to Ghana after fulfilling her sentence and being released from prison according to the court’s ruling.
