Broke the speed limit more than once; 1,800 cases against buses – Road Accident | Vadakkencherry Tourist Bus Accident

Thiruvananthapuram: 1,800 cases have been registered in the state in the last one year against buses that violated the speed limit several times. The speed limit for buses in the state is 70 kilometers per hour. The tourist bus which had an accident in Vadakancheri was found to be traveling at a speed of more than 97 kilometers per hour.

There are 8,000 buses in the state. According to officials of the Department of Motor Vehicles, many repeat offenders have not paid the fine. Some came to court and got a stay. The fine for breaking the speed limit is Rs 1,500. A fine of Rs 3,000 will be levied if the offense continues.

Car: In front of educational institutions (30 km), on national highways (85 km), state highway (80 km), four-lane highway (90 km) and other places (70 km)

A motorcycle: In front of educational institutions (30 km), on national highways (60 km), state highway (50 km), four-lane highway (70 km) and other places (50 km)

Autorickshaw: In front of educational institutions (30 km), on national highways (50 km), state highway (50 km), four-lane highway (50 km) and other places (40 km)

Light Motor Vehicle (Used for public transport): In front of educational institutions (30km), on national highways (65km), state highways (65km), four-lane highways (70km), other places (60km)

Light Motor Vehicle (Not used for public transport): In front of educational institutions (30 km), on national highways (85 km), state highway (80 km), four-lane highway (90 km), other places (60 km)

Medium Heavy Vehicle: In front of educational institutions (30 km), on national highways (65 km), state highway (65 km), four-lane highway (70 km) and other places (60 km).
