Burglary at Babyzone’s home; Defendant arrested | Thief Arrested | Gold | Shibu Baby John | Kollam News

Kollam: A man has been arrested for stealing from the family home of former minister Shibu Babyjon. Ramesh (Rasathi Ramesh-48) was arrested from Pottan Vannanvillai village in Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu recently on a charge of theft from Palakkad district jail. The shop owner was suspicious and informed the police when he came to sell the stolen gold at a gold shop in Nagercoil.

Police recovered 53 sovereign gold jewelery from him. The burglary took place at the home of the late Baby John, a former minister and RSP leader. The Kerala Police had informed the stations in the border districts immediately after the incident. Nagercoil police took the accused into custody and informed the Kollam City Police. Within hours of the robbery, police identified the suspect and arrested him.

He was released from Palakkad district jail on the 30th and reached Kollam by train and was walking around the railway station and its surroundings. Homes in the area were monitored at night. Upasana Nagar 105 Field at Kadanmukku in Cantonment North Ward, Kollam East Village was found unoccupied at night. That’s how he chose this house for his theft. At night, he broke into the front door of the house with a machete and stole gold jewelry kept in a cupboard in the bedroom.

Police were checking CCTV footage of nearby homes and businesses as there were no surveillance cameras in the homes of Baby John and Shibu in Kadapakkada Upasana Nagar. A special team led by the district police chief handed over the CCTV footage of him to the Tamil Nadu police.

He was nabbed by a special team led by District Police Chief T Narayanan, Assistant Commissioner of Police GD Vijayakumar, Kollam East Inspector R Ratheesh, SIs Balachandran, Rajmohan, SCPO Sunil, CPOs Ranjith, Sanoj, Binu and Jalaja. He will be brought to Kerala and produced in court including the theft.
