A spoon bought for just 90 paise, if it sells for two lakh rupees. Aren’t we shocked? Someone in London has such a lucky nightmare. He sold an old spoon at auction for Rs 2 lakh.

At the time of his purchase, it was in a state of total disrepair. However, with the way it was made, it seemed to the buyer that it was medieval enough and that it might cost more.

After this speculation and spoon purchase, he approached the Somerset-based Lawrence auctioneer and waited anxiously. He was happy when the auctioneers informed him that he would get more money for it than he had bought. Alex Butcher, a silver expert, says it existed in the late thirteenth century. It was expected to fetch around Rs 50,000.

Butcher told the News Organization, “The person who discovered it was not a silver trader, but he saw it as a hobby. But he had a good view. I saw this spoon in the stall. I bought it for 90 paise. He contacted us through our website to find out about it.”

In any case, the spoon sold for Rs 2 lakh at auction. When he got the amount, he was totally excited. He said the money would be used to celebrate somewhere in the east of England.
