While the momentum of the fourth wave of the new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in Korea is not formidable, on the 18th, there were a series of confirmed cases across the country.

According to the quarantine authorities and local governments such as Seoul, there were 1,995 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 from 0:00 to 9:00 pm on the same day.

This is 338 more than the 1,657 people counted at the same time the day before.

It is 162 more people than the 1,833 people counted at 9 pm on Wednesday (11th) last week, a week ago.

Looking at the number of confirmed cases so far, due to the decrease in the number of tests on weekends and holidays, the number of confirmed cases was somewhat small at the beginning of the week, but increased rapidly after the middle, but this pattern is repeated.

Even in the interim count, it has already broken the record for the most as of Wednesday. The previous highest number on Wednesday was 1,987 people on Wednesday of last week (announced at 00:00 on the 11th and 12th).

If you look at the regions where the confirmed cases were confirmed on that day, 1,302 people (65.3%) were in the metropolitan area and 693 people (34.7%) were in the non-metropolitan area.

By province and province, Gyeonggi 592, Seoul 562, Incheon 148, Busan 106, Gyeongnam 96, Chungnam 83, Ulsan 66, Chungbuk 52, Daegu 50, Daejeon and Gyeongbuk 47 each, Jeju 37, Jeonbuk 36 people, Gangwon 29, Gwangju 22, Jeonnam 12, and Sejong 10.

There were confirmed cases in all 17 cities and provinces nationwide.

As there is still time until midnight, when the counting ends, the number of new confirmed cases to be announced as of 00:00 on the 19th is expected to increase to 2,100, or at most 2,200.

If there are 2,000 confirmed cases, it will be the second time in 8 days since the 11th (2,222 people).

If the number of confirmed cases exceeds 2,222, it will break the record for the most since the Corona 19 incident in Korea. The 1,995 interim count on this day is already the second largest.

The previous day, the number of people increased by 148 after 9 pm, and the final number was 1,805.

The 4th pandemic, which started in earnest at the beginning of last month, has recently spread to all parts of the non-metropolitan area, and the spread is intensifying.

The number of confirmed cases per day has been in the four digits for 43 days in a row since the 7th of last month (1,212 people), and the 19th is the 44th day.

If we look at the new confirmed cases in the last week (Aug. 12-18), 1,987 → 1,990 → 1,928 → 1,816 → 1,556 → 1,372 → 1,805 by day. Recorded and surpassed 1,000 every day.

If you look at the major cases of infection, the number of confirmed cases is increasing in various places in daily life, such as workplaces, sports facilities, academies, and gatherings.

At a kindergarten and indoor sports facility in Jungnang-gu, Seoul, 29 people, including students, users, and families, have been confirmed one after the other since the 10th.

Regarding a studio in Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, 20 people including workers and users have been confirmed for the past four days, and 20 people, including 16 workers, have tested positive at a food processing company in Anseong-si.

In non-metropolitan areas, cases of infection through small gatherings such as family gatherings in Eumseong-gun, Chungbuk (11 people), family and acquaintances in Yeosu, Jeollanam-do (9 people), and acquaintances in Jeju-si (10 people) followed.
