Cameron touches on goal as Switzerland win – NEWS 360 – SPORTS

Switzerland beat Cameroon 1-0

Doha: Switzerland began their surge in the Qatar World Cup by defeating Cameroon by a one-sided goal. In yesterday’s match in Group G, the Swiss team overcame the great challenge set by Cameroon 1-0 on the back of a goal scored by Briel Mbola, who is also from Cameroon. Goalkeeper Jan Sommer’s lightning saves were also crucial in Switzerland’s victory.

Although Switzerland are 15th and Cameroon 43rd in the FIFA rankings, none of that difference was seen on the pitch. Both teams stood together in ball handling and passing. Cameron was leading in terms of shots including on target. At first, Cameron was at the forefront of the attack. They came close to scoring in the 10th minute, but Sommer saved the Swiss team after saving Mbiumo’s shot. Under the leadership of Shardan Shaqiri, the Swiss were also weaving the attack. Cameron also made great strides, including counter-attacks, but errors in finishing and composure by the Swiss defense led to the goal. Cameroon kept the Swiss team scoreless in the first half. Cameroon goalkeeper Andre Onana did not have a single challenging shot in the first half. But at the start of the second half Switzerland took the lead through Embola in the 48th minute. Both teams continued to push hard for the goal, but did not progress.
