A mid-sized lunch box company sold a lunch box worth more than 40,000 won at 900 won and canceled all purchases two days later, causing controversy. The company said it was a mistake and issued a 15% discount coupon to the consumers.

According to Kakao Commerce and the online community on the 21st, Formidosirak, which entered Kakao Shopping, issued a discount coupon of 30,000 won from 00:00 on the 18th.

By applying the coupon to ‘The Formy Season 2 Nutritious Multigrain Rice 8 Packs of 8 Types’, which received a 29% discount from the regular price of 43,900 won, it could be purchased for 900 won.

News of such a discount sale spread through various online communities and social networking services (SNS). The product sold out quickly. It is reported that over the past two days, more than 100,000 transactions have been made.

Consumers who purchased the product at a low price by applying a discount coupon shared their reviews on the online community. One member wrote, “It was sold out immediately after payment was completed for 1900 won.”

Consumer concerns have become a reality. The company announced on the morning of the 20th that it would cancel the order in an emergency notice.

In the notice, the company said, “The 30,000 won discount coupon is due to a site system error, and the order will be canceled by January 20th. I will do it,” he said.

In response, consumers pointed out that they were mocking consumers by calling it ‘noise marketing’. Netizens complained, “Somehow, it was too cheap”, “I shared it here and there, but it was only promoting the company”, “I think it was done on purpose”, etc.

Earlier, Formidosirak received complaints from consumers and apologized for omitting ‘0’ when announcing the price of a specific product on other shopping sites.

The company’s position is that it was not aimed at mocking consumers or noise marketing. An official from the company said, “There was a mistake in adding one more ‘0’ to the discount coupon amount.
