Canon Zhuhai ends Canon camera production and withdraws from China – Hong Kong unwire.hk

Reuters recently reported that the Zhuhai branch of Japanese photographic equipment company Canon, a joint venture between Canon Japan and Canon China, has a 32-year history and will end its operations in the short term. Currently employing about 1,300 people, Canon’s Zhuhai factory mainly produces lenses, digital cameras and digital camcorders. This decision also means that Canon’s camera production will be fully withdrawn from China.

Chinese media first reported last Thursday (January 13) that Canon Zhuhai Co., Ltd. issued an official announcement on Wednesday about the company’s termination of operations, and said the factory would stop production. The announcement mentioned that it has received strong support from the local government since its establishment, and has been able to continue operating for 32 years thanks to the hard work and positive contributions of all employees.

In recent years, the camera market has shrunk sharply, and the pneumonia epidemic has been raging for a long time, which has caused the company to face unprecedented difficulties. The company’s joint efforts have not been able to reverse the dilemma. The headquarters has to adjust the overall operating structure of the group and make a difficult decision to terminate production after careful research. . Canon Zhuhai said that it will strive to provide better compensation schemes and humane care than the standard, including trying to find other job opportunities for employees.
