Carrot, Goyang, cannot change team name this season!

[스포츠한국 김성수 기자] It seems that the Goyang Moronen professional basketball team name will be maintained at least until this season. It is a decision by the board of directors of the Korean Basketball League (KBL). There is also the matter of paying subscription fees to advance to the playoffs.

KBL 28th held the 3rd meeting of the Board of Directors at the KBL Center in Gangnam-gu, Seoul at 8:30am on the 24th and the matter of changing the name of the Carrot club was discussed.

In the end, this case was dismissed. The naming sponsorship contract ended on March 21 after a joint deal with Carrot Insurance by Day One Sports, operator of Carrot Club. Accordingly, they wanted to change the name of the club from ‘Goyang Carrot Jumpers’ to ‘Goyang Day One Jumpers’ and the federation asked for that. However, the federation’s board of directors decided it was not appropriate with less than a week left before the regular season and voted it down.

Meanwhile, the Carrot club announced that it would pay within the deadline (6:00 pm on the 31st) regarding the second part of the subscription fee (1 billion won). The federation said, “The Moronen club promised to do its best to make the payment even before the deadline, and promised to take appropriate measures, such as advance warning, so that there will be no disruption to the operation of the PO and even league events if payment becomes difficult in the unlikely event.” .

Moronen are currently in 5th place (26-25) and have confirmed their progress to the round of 6 PO regardless of the remaining games, but if the subscription fee is not paid within the date close, even if it is in 6th place in the regular league, the next lower team will be one step ahead in their place. I will go to the 6th round PO. This is also a matter to be decided by the KBL Board of Directors.
